ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A MODEL

Being a model has advantages and disadvantages, in my opinion being a model is a very hard profession. The models must be very thin people and they have to eat an especial diet. In addition, they have to wear uncomfortable clothes and shoes. However, being a model has some advantages, the models are admired worldwide.

On the one hand, being model isn’t an easy profession, to be famous models have to work very hard. Firstly, models must follow strict diets which are very healthy, and can’t eat big quantities of food. This is a problem in our society, because there are a lot people who are too thin, people who weigh less than 50 kg can’t parade in the catwalk. Other disadvantage is that models must wear high-heeled shoes and the crazy designs which the designers have created. It’s very difficult parade with the designs and the high-heeled shoes; a lot of models have crashed their heel in the middle of the catwalk. The models are little acrobats because it is almost impossible to walk with the high-heeled shoes.

On the other hand, being a model has some advantages, if you work very hard, you can be a good model and a famous person. You will be able to participate in the most important catwalks in the world, for example: Cibeles, Milan, Paris…What’s more, you will earn a lot of money, and will have an amazing car, house etc. You will be admired worldwide and a lot of people will desire your body.

In conclusion being a model has more disadvantages than advantages, that’s why I wouldn’t be model. It is a very hard and risky profession. I wouldn’t be a model, because although you can earn a lot of money you have to work very hard to get it.

I have never been in Andorra but my grandmother was there some years ago, so she has told me a lot of things. What’s more, my classmates and I are going to Andorra the week before Easter.
Andorra is situated between the North of Spain and the South of France. It is a very wonderful State where is ideal to enjoy the nature. The mountains are snow-covered almost all the months of the year because the weather is cold in winter and warmer in summer. It is famous for its ski slopes where you practise ski and snowboard. However, there are other interesting sports that you can do, for example skating on ice. If you want to relax you can go to Caldea, the biggest Spa of Europe! You can also visit museums and see the Roman architecture. Not only you can have a good time but you can also learn Catalan and French. Andorran people are friendly and sociable, so if you decide to learn the language you’ll get it.Andorran gastronomy is really tasty. It mixes both the French cookery and the Spanish one. Although I haven’t been in Andorra yet, I think it is a very amazing State and I hope that it is like I’ve imagined.

Last summer I was very lucky because I got a scholarship and I had the opportunity to visit Grimsby. Grimsby is like a small town near St. Catharines, a city, where almost all its inhabitants work. Grimsby and St. Catherines are situated in Ontario, Canada on the lakeshore Ontario. The lake is so big that you cannot see a bank from the other except when it’s dark and you can see the lights from the buildings of Toronto. One of the best things that I saw there was the sunset over the lake.
In this place, houses are squat and with big roofs. There are a lot of housing estates where all houses are equal, but not only people live in them, also there are houses with large expanses of grass that are always perfectly neat. There are a lot of trees, green parks, forests and huge green fields to play sports. Because of that every child plays some sport like football or baseball, but only in summer because the weather is sunny and hot. However, in winter, it always snows and it’s cold, in this time children usually play hockey. One of the good things about Canada in general, is that boys and girls practise the same sport without differences, in other words, it isn’t a sexist society. In Grimsby, families are traditional and they have two or three children, and the government supports them with many aids, for example a long maternity leave. There, people are kind, friendly and generous and parents get on well with their children and they try to spend as long as possible with them, doing special activities like camping, riding a sea-doo, doing barbecues… With regard to food, you know that they have a packed lunch at one o’clock and at they have dinner at six o’clock, but a thing that you never could imagine is that they have the milk in a plastic bag and every type of cereals for breakfast. Another admirable custom is the possibility of picking-up fruit straight from the trees and pay the farmer at the moment. In addition, the fruit has been grown without pesticides.

However, if you want to go to the cinema or to a shopping centre you have to drive into St. Catherines, about 26 km, and in Grimsby there aren’t public buses. Therefore, they use their cars for everything and you can drive when you are 16, young Canadians have this advantage, but also a disadvantage they usually get married at 23.

Close to Grimsby there are some interesting places like Niagara Falls and Canada’s Wonderland. Niagara Falls is a very famous place but in my opinion is too tourist and Canada’s Wonderland is an amazing amusement park where it is the biggest scenic railway of the world and really good security measures. Another traditional thing of Canada is Tim Horton, a chain of restaurants where each minute there are innumerable types of fresh donuts and coffees from different countries. But if something is a symbol of Grimsby’s life this is the barbecue in summer, roasted marshmallows on a fire to eat them with chocolate and a cracker.

I think Grimsby is a place that you have to visit in your life at least once, especially if you want to be relaxed and quiet. Grimsby is an example of Canadian spirit: ecological, simple, homeloving, no xenophobic. Canada is a multicultural and multiracial country with good customs. Moreover, you can improve your English and, in some areas of Canada, also your French.

Japan is a country that I really like.

It’s in the East of Asia, on the Pacific Ocean. It’s also called “Land of the rising sun”.
Japan is an archipelago of 6,825 islands. All of them are volcanic and very high, so the biggest cities are in the coast.
The highest mountain is Mount Fiji, one of the most breathtaking sights that you can see there. The Japanese love the mountain and call it Fuji-San. They consider an honor to climb it, if you wanted to climb it, it would be better that you do it in summer, because It’s a dangerous and scary experience to climb it in winter.
The weather is really changeable; it depends on the island or in the zone of the island.
Japan has become one of the most powerful countries in the world, thanks to its industry.
Japan is famous for the geishas, cartoons, its tea ceremony and martial arts. Sumo is the national sport, but baseball is the most popular.
In order to spend their free time, the most practiced activity for the Japanese is Karaoke.
Japanese people are very respectful and polite. Visiting a Japanese home is very interesting, when you go into the house, you have to take off your shoes and walk in special slippers and instead of shaking hands they bow each other.
Japan is a place where there are a lot of natural disasters like volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis, although there are many dangerous natural phenomena, Japanese people work hard to fight against them, using advanced technology to design stronger buildings.

LONDON

Last summer I went to London with my classroom mates in the end of the year trip. Since I arrived to this city, I fell in love with it.

London is situated in the south of the United Kingdom and it is the capital of the country. The centre of the city is very active, there are a lot of people with different cultures and with different ways of getting dressed. There are also big parks, like St. James’s Park, where you can relax and see the nature in the centre of a big city. I like its museums too. Especially, the British museum because it is very interesting and you can learn a lot of things about the history. And there are a lot of shops where you can buy everything that you can imagine. However, a thing that I don’t like about London is the weather. It is often cold and rainy, and I prefer the hot weather.

I like English food too, because it is similar to the food that I usually eat here. I would like to go back to London again to taste again more traditional food, and not only “tourist food”.
People there are very friendly and kind, everybody helped me when I got lost, and when I didn’t understand anything.

Living in London should be a very exciting and amusing experience, because everyday is different. And to visit the city is very interesting too due to all the things that the city offers you.
